Re: The Passage of Time

Hard to believe, but I think the current discussion only scratches the surface of the huge problems of time passage in House Games. XP is part of the problem-the "imbued" condition exists in part to...

Re: The Passage of Time

I really have no problem with doing things this way, provided Players are willing to shoulder some of the work detailing out the changes.

Re: The Passage of Time

I like it. Makes things much simpler. I would leave time distortion during Games to GM discretion. There would probably be no need for time distortion during downtimes.

Re: The Passage of Time

Hoooly crap. That's a very intimidating and impressive chunk of data there. Overall, I really like this. It solves a whole host of problems, especially the big one of more active cells getting so far...

Re: The Passage of Time

Here's the current proposal as I understand it. 1) Real time equals game time. There may or may not be weird time effects during Games. (There probably wouldn't be as long as the Game is finished by...

Re: The Passage of Time

Three options: 1. Shorten reading time on Mythos tomes and the like. Or make them require Downtimes (typically 1 Downtime, potentially 2-3, tracking real-time weeks). The latter option forces imbued...

Re: The Passage of Time

Hmm it's all a very interesting idea. It seems to me like it would very much nerf mentors and study points, though, since characters over here would be receiving them on average of 1/4 as often.

Re: The Passage of Time

Study Points from a Mentor, Library, or Laboratory are always received per Game rather than per Downtime. (Essentially, they're part of the point award from the Game, like the extra point for Fast...

Re: The Passage of Time

Aww that's too bad because it means that a mentor will always be way better at counciling Carson than Sissy, which is far more flavorful. Perhaps limit the once per week study points from other...

Re: The Passage of Time

I like this A LOT. I also like the way it interacts with healing time. It makes taking damage far more dangerous. I don't think we should accelerate healing times at all. If you can't get it healed...

Re: The Passage of Time

Just to clarify, a "Downtime Report" is actually linked to a Game, not to a Downtime. It's the report of what you're doing between Games. So you can still receive 1 XP for a Downtime Report after each...

Re: The Passage of Time

Hmm what about time passage for big projects away from the general setting? For example terraforming Mars? That used to seem possible because it might take a year of in-game time, but now that that's...

It's a balance thing. I can always rebalance it or remove it completely, but it does seems strange to have him make things so fast. Also, I forsee a problem with character development. For example,...

Re: The Passage of Time

I suppose what I am suggesting is to make a week of out of game time equal to a month of in-game time. That would serve to balance some of the temporal shifts that are bound to happen (for example...

Re: The Passage of Time

I don't see any need to change healing. Instead, we would probably want to award more Gifts that allow accelerated healing. Many current characters have already received accelerated healing as a Gift,...

Re: The Passage of Time

One week real time = one month game time might work better, actually. It would also preserve greater continuity, since there's been an assumption that one Game and its corresponding Downtime take one...

Re: The Passage of Time

I agree that Healing will be a problem under this system and I don't think that it's apt to force a speed healing Power on characters when we're trying to make them diverse. One possible solution is a...

Re: The Passage of Time

If we go with one week = one month, then healing isn't a problem.
